Platform: Disney+
Movie: Terminator - Dark Fate
Language: German

Issue: Forced Subtitles are missing.

When whatching the movie online, the subtitles are there. In the mp4 file, they are missing.
Is this a bug?

Regards,
Tschens

Could you see them in the Configure Download window?
And did you save them merged or as external file?

If they exist for this movie (I don't have D+ so I can't check it myself), maybe the player is not able to play or detect them. If so, try another player or select them manually, maybe the are not selected by default.

In addition, we need the AS version and a logfile is helpful as well.

Thx for your help. Yes, I configured the download with activated "German forced subtitles" and I saved it merged into the movie.
Tried both VLC and Windows media player, no subtitles are shown.
AS version 1.2.4.0 64 bit.
Regards

Ok, I can see that you indeed selectet the forced subtitles and to have them merged, but I could not see a link to the subtitles to check them (only .mp4 and .mp4a files).
In that case you have to wait for a dev.

That’s very strange since my colleague can reproduce the problem on his computer with the same movie. We are both on Windows 10.
Are your subtitles „forced German“ or „German“?

Same Problem with Iron Man 2. No forced subtitles. For example at the beginning (1 min 45 s) where they speak russian language.

I reproduced this with Iron Man 2 and it works as it should

My settings are with embedded subtitles, I dont create an extra SRT file.

And also with "embedded" subtitles it works as it should

Thats weird. I can reproduce the problem any time. Even on a (virtual) Windows 7 system.
Downloading the SRT file works perfectly fine, embedding of the subtitles fails. Are you using the most current version 1.2.4.0 64bit?

In order to narrow down the problem: Are you sure you erased/renamed the SRT file before playing the file with the embedded forced subtitles? Otherwise, VLC would automatically play the SRT file. :)
Yep, for got about that ... my mistake.
But the issue is something else ... that was noticed some time ago.
Although the subtitles are forced and in the file, they are not active.
In order to be visible you have to activate them in VLC player... like the "normal" subtitles.

When saved as external subs, VLC grabs the forced ones and displays automatically.
Not sure if that is an AnyStream or Player issue.

And it's not only with D+ ... NF is the same.

If you look at the mediainfo of the file, you will notice that the subtitle is not marked as forced and therefore will be handled as a normal subtitle.

yes, I deleted it completely and re-downloaded it with embedded subtitles, here now played with MPC

Screenshot 2021-11-01 103930.png

and as you can see there is no SRT

You are right. Since I usually remux the mp4 files with handbrake to mkv, the forced subtitles got lost (since they are not marked as "forced", Handbrake ignores them). However, I checked the original mp4 files, and indeed there are subtitles in it, I just have to activate them. My further procedure will be now to remux with Handbrake AND burn-in the forced subtitles. Just tried that, it works as it should.

Unfortunately you have to edit the file that the subtitles appear automatically, here on the Oppo
