Hi I'm new so excuse me for any dumb questions. I've had Any and Clone DVD for a while now on an older pc with Windows XP, but I just purchased a new HP pc with Windows Vista and a light scribe dvd burner. Both pc's have Norton security and I'm using versions 6.2.5.5 for Anydvd and 2.9.0.8 for Clone. I've never had a problem untill attempting to use the software on this new pc. I've tried 3 different back ups, two of which are "known" good recordable media that worked on my older pc and I'm getting the same result everytime. Each disc reads the media apparently flawlessly but when I insert Sony DVD-R (which I've never had any problems either) it appears to start writing and gets about two minutes into each write and then displays the error which I believe was error in media write replace with etc. and try again only to get the same result. Is there something in Vista that I need to configure diffferently or can someone point me to a thread that covers this. I found one thread stating to let Anydvd run in administrator mode and I've made that change so I'm gonna try that in a few. I also backed the speed off the drive one notch earlier but still got the same result.
Thanks in advance for your help

1. Update your burner's firmware (if available)
http://forum.slysoft.com/showpost.php?p=12794&postcount=10
2. Use good quality media (Memorex, Ritek, Princo, Fuji, TDK from Costco, and Maxell that are not made in Japan are not good quality media). Use Taiyo Yuden 8x Premium, Verbatim, Maxell Plus, or Maxell Broadcast Quality
If you use poor quality blank media, then you should expect problems.

3. Try lowering your burn speed (not below 4x; if you have a 16x burner and 16x rated media try writing to it at 12x instead of 16x; an 8x burn speed on 16x rated media wouldn't be a bad idea either)
4. If you're using +R, +RW, or +R DL media, change the booktype to "dvd-rom"
http://forum.slysoft.com/showthread.php?t=476 (step 3)
5. Avoid sticker labels (they tend to cause problems)
6. Try setting a custom size of 4300 in Clonedvd (but if you're using good media, you shouldn't have to) if you're using regular single layer dvd-5 (4.7GB) discs.

Bad burn quality is notorious around the end of discs (see step 6)
and also at layer breaks when using low quality DL media (use Verbatim +R DL media, and change the booktype to "dvd-rom)

Also, check the preview screen in Clonedvd to ensure you're backing up the proper title.

read http://forum.slysoft.com/showthread.php?t=476 fully please

Also do step 4 from here please (step 4 requires you to post information).

Your issue has absolutely nothing to do with Anydvd by the way (I moved this thread to the Clonedvd forum).

K thanks, I'm going to work now. I have the most updated driver. Is that the same as firmware update?
