Xonar - Can you use without analogue add-on?

Just wondering if anyone knows whether you can run the xonar hdmi 1.3 deluxe without the pci-e analogue secondary card. I don’t need it as I use the hdmi out and I think it may be choking my asus 9600gt 1gb which has quite a large fan and sits next to the analogue ad-on card as this was the only pci-e slot left.
