How do you get this game to run? It always asks me to insert the disc.

from my experience the only copy protection on this game is the name of the disc. as long as it is WA it will work.

(i made an "easy version" by editing the contents of the text files in the mission folder and burning a new cd with them replacing the originals. if the cd isnt named WA i have to use the original until i get to the main menu and then swap, if the cd is named WA it works fine)

The disc is named WA. Is it bad that I'm using a virtual drive?

hmm, safedisc protected i believe, perhaps you used a crack or something?.. or maybe got a budget release version of the game...

@cuber351 -> scan the installation directory with protection id (or a-ray, which is outdated but should still detect safedisc)...

I scaned the exe in my worms directory and it gave me this:

Scanning -> C:\Program Files\Team17\Worms Armageddon\wa.exe
File Type : Exe, Size : 4378624 (042D000h) Bytes
[!] Possible CD/DVD-Check String -> Please insert

scan the entire directory, just just an obvious exe file
some exe's are renamed to .dat etc.... so you might miss the report

Ok I clicked multiscan in protectoin ID 5.2c, selected all the files and folers on the hard drive and it came up with this:

-=[ ProtectionID v5.2c ]=- (c) CdKiller & [x/xxx]

just for the record, ive also used alcohol 120% and daemon tools to run worms armageddon from iso and nrg images of the original disk and my easy version. as well as having burned working copies on 3 different comps (all old ones) with alcohol 120% and nero 6 and 7.

because of that i dont think it has any kind of copy protection past the cd check.

my copy is 5+ years old though. maybe you got a version with different protection? (mine is US, came in a bundle with Mechcommander 1, and Civ 2)

hmm yeah, from that log it does just look like a simple cd/dvd check.. weird.

cuber351 -> 'log filter' is useful, it removes the text from the log if the file wasn't protected, leading to a smaller paste :)

Not to dig up an old thread here... but I just wanted to add that I've gotten WA to play just fine using the VirtualDrive by Slysoft, as well as making an image from the actual disc using CloneCD.

Played it this weekend, in fact. Been a long time. :D
