I have created several iso images of HD DVDs using AnyDVD, these work fine on my home PC but on my laptop (Sony VGN-Z520N) I just get a green screen with audio. I have drive image software so I have been able to try different version of PowerDVD, AnyDVD and removing all writing software but no combination has resolved the problem. Currently running PowerDVD 7.3 with AnyDVD 6.4.7.6 the image of eg. We Were Soldiers works fine on my home PC but not on the laptop. It seems obvious this isnt an isse with the iso image or the software version of PowerDVD or AnyDVD but I am not sure what else to try. Appreciate any suggestions.

you need to post the log file, you don't say what build of 7.3 and you may need to update the graphics card drivers on the laptop. What graphics card does it have in it and what version of drivers?

Sorry, should have mentioned that I dont have a bluray drive on the laptop machine (I think I read there is no point posting the log file for a virtual drive) but just in case here it is:

AnyDVD 6.4.7.6

track 1 from 0 to 14233504, Control 4
Drive 0 (not set!)
read physical failed, sense 5:30:2
dvd-rom version 0 120mm 2.52mbps parallel

layer 1 reserved free

The PowerDVD version is a bundled version (LG Drive) and just states build 7.3.

Info on the Graphics is as follows (I tried to update the driver already but got the message 'you have the latest software')

What you've just posted is even less useful than posting the .zip file from a virtual drive, unfortunately.

FYI - a "green screen" has nothing to with AnyDVD.

7.3 is the version number not the build number, update to the latest build (4407) and see if that makes a difference, although I remember when I was having green screens it was because of my graphics card

Your dedicated video memory is less than minimum video memory. Therefore it won't play Blu-ray or HD DVD.

Have you consider running Cyberlink BD advisor, IF not run that to see if system is powerful enough. However i am 99% sure it is video memory which is problem here.

Minimum dedicated memory required is 256MB, You system have only 128MB.

To sum it up you will need video card which has at least 256MB dedicated video memory and since it is laptop it is not possible for average user to upgrade video card due to manufacture restriction. (Not to be confused with system memory, video memory is totally different thing)

Thanks for all the replies:

James - I agree, the iso file plays fine on my home PC but doesnt work on the laptop so it is something specific to the laptop rather than AnyDVD, PowerDVD, etc... I just thought this seemed like a knowledgable place to ask for help, hope that is OK.

Adbear - tried 4407 but that doesnt help.

Hawk - I tried BD Advisor, I had a couple of advisories - one on the processor and one for the graphics card, however it stated that it was possibly because these were not qualified rather than not capable. In fact I do have some BD iso's that run fine on my laptop (eg Flyboys) so it would seem the problem is specific to certain iso's which incidently all happen to be HD DVD. Maybe they require more high performance graphics ?

Thanks again guys, I appreciate you taking time to help me.

probably to do with decoding the codec used on that type of disc, check the codec used on the ones that work and the ones that don't

That could explain why not. (In respective field of processor and graphics it may have asked to upgrade (or yellow color behind them)

Tip: Some Disc need more processor power and graphics power than others.
