Windows 11?

Lets worry about that when windows 11 is actually officially announced/released/started to roll out in a few months. But i have zero doubts that if it's not ready on W11 release, it'll be made compatible shortly after. Too much things can change between "insider builds" of windows and the official RTM (Release To Manufacturer) versions.

You might be able to install W11 as a VM and use the trials to try it, except for AS, there you have to register it as the trial won't work in a VM.
But of course, why shouldn't they update their software if there a compatibility issues?

But at the end I think W10 and W11 are similar, so it could work even without any update.

Windows 11 is only available in a Developers version right now, who knows what they will change and when they will release it, it's awful early to ask if Redfox programs will work with Windows 11, it won't be released for months and there will probably be a few more prerelease version before the final is out.

No 8th gen cpu yet Dave? Going to have to get one if you want the official W11, remember ;)

There are ways to bypass the TPM and Secure Boot shit on install, but Microsoft said they will disable this later. Off course you can still use the old iso and then just update, but maybe they will block the update like 2004 and 21H2 were not availabe from the start for everyone. This is something I want to try later, when W11 is officially released. Because I'm thinking about to install a SSD into my old laptop still running on a common harddrive and I could use this to test W11 and the update behaviour before I install my regular W10 incase W11 won't work.

This isn't about tpm or secure boot. His cpu isn't supported, he's got a 7700k (7th gen) and official support starts with 8 gen. No way around that other than an 8th gen cpu. Anyway, back on topic..

I know that, I was talking about my laptop. It is a 10 year old one and hasn't even TPM, Secure Boot or UEFI available. It comes with BIOS. And so I want to try if it will work anyway as soon as W11 is out and I purchased a SSD.

It's just that if the configuration is not compatible with Windows11, then you won't even get the W11 upgrade offered, and then not even in the Insider.
But this was the case for me, my system was on 21H1 and when searching for updates, Windows 11 became available as an update

That won't be the case on official release though. Current processor support is a HARD FLOOR and not something they currently plan on removing. They've said that not long ago. Systems that currently run the insider versions on what will be on unsupported hardware will not be offered W11 on release. Regardless of the fact that they were able to run it.

I believe they are investigating the possibility of 7th gen cpu support but there has been no official statement.

Yes, so these machines will be left behind, rendering Microsofts security concerns (the reasons to require TPM and Secure Boot) pointless since these devices won't get any updates when M drops support for them 2025, making them... unsecure. So there is absolutely no reason to not give them W11 to have them running a OS that will recieve Updates, even if they don't support the two mechanisms, they are at least up to date. Not that I care about this, it is running so I will continue to use W10 in case my Laptop won't be able to update to a never build of W11 when I installed the old iso.

Know that, but yes, I've heard nothing about this till now.

Not entirely, win 10 will be supported until at least 2025 I believe. That's 4 more years at least, they'll just not get win 11. In those 4 years many of those PC's will possibly have been replaced by newer machines which....will run on W11.

AnyDVD and AnyStream both work in Windows 11 current release. Honestly, 11 is not that much different from 10 on the backend, at least the parts those applications would interact with, so I'd be surprised if it didn't work.

Yes, I think that W11 is basically the 21H2 Sun Valley update. Maybe I'm wrong, but even then I also think that is is simply W10 with a new design sold with another name to make it new and fresh. Of course there are improvements like the new store and so on and it seems to be faster.

It isn't. Windows 10 will get 21H2, W11 is an entire upgrade.
