I always get widescreen format movies and make backups. Play them on my Standard TV and get the black bar on top and bottom, this I understand. Now I have moved into the HD/widescreen world and when I play these same disc, in my new (upconverting) DVD player plugged into my new HD/widescreen TV, I STILL GET THE BARS ON TOP AND BOTTOM. What don't I understand or know?

Thanks for the info

I didn't think it was a CloneDVD issue, but I knew this was the place to come to learn about what I was seeing

Thanks Again

Widescreen is 16x9.
Most movies are in Panavision @ 2.35 to 1 .
So on a widescreen TV you get SMALLER bars with a Panavision movie than you did on your old TV. Some movies are released in 16x9 - not many though.
