Why does it take that long to rip into MP4?

Why does it take 3 hours to rip into MP4 compares to how long it takes to rip into AVI (DviX) (about 20 min.)?

It usually depends on encoder and also will vary by profile. Also different encoder are used for AVI and MP4 which should help why it take more time to do in MP4.

Post your system specs just to be sure. Such as processor type, ram, hard drive size.

Also you may want to defrag hard drive as that can slow down system as well creation of files like this.

Does your system fell sluggish if so, Defrag will certainly help.
