Dumb question probably but what is the AST Log File? Is this something that is needed to play the MP$ file?

It's the AnyStream Log file. Basically AnyStream Log (Might not be how they came up with it, but basically how I read it).

Thanks! I get it. So, it's really not necessary to keep it if everything downloads OK, right?

Yep. You can create it in Menu.

You can disable the creation of the astlog file through anystream's settings.

How do I read the *.astlog file?

You don't. It's for diagnostic purposes only and requires the proper analysis tools to fully process.

Well, the *.astlog file is basically a ZIP file which contains two log files.
A text file and a binary file.
You can read the text file with any text editor whereas the binary file is something for the developers.

Get 7-Zip and then open the .astlog file with the 7-Zip File Manager (7zFM.exe). You'll see the log.txt file and auxtelemetry.bin file. You can double click on the txt file and read it.

The dump files are exclusively for the developers, they are encrypted files.
