i was just curious as to what the on: 0,off: 0, empty: 1 refer to?

Refers to your optical drives, and which have disks inserted with AnyDVD active.

The 'On' & 'Off' refer to whether AnyDVD is actually doing anything. With protected media it would 'On' 1 'Off' 0. With blank media it should be 'On' 0 'Off' 1.
The empty is confirmation that disc is inserted or not. When no media present 'Empty' 1. When media present regardless of format (assuming drive can read said media) 'Empty' 0.
