avoid MAP6 serial code read http://www.redflagdeals.com/forums/showpost.php?p=4764653&postcount=25 and also visit the sticky about the MAP6 serial code in this forum
I don't know about those DVD-R lifespans. They are quite conservative and if they were true would turn me off from backing up any more of my DVD. I hope he's wrong! When I started burning movies to DVD-Rs I was under the impression they would last a lifetime... Anyone else had the same impression or was I just poorly informed? Didn't the TYS say somewhere under their product information something about lasting 100 years? And the only problem that Verb MAP6s have are that they are not compatible with some burners, at least that is what I got from the sticky. There is nothing physically wrong with the media's quality.
The Digital Dolphin burns discs on an industrial level. His business is burning, and he also has a number of blank media industry contacts. He is also responsible for some of the excellent Benq drive reviews over at cdrlabs.com No, just conservative I got some swamp land in Flordia I want to sell you. A Phthalocyanine Dye (with a gold reflective) layer based disc is unlikely to last that long (although all of my old Mitsui gold cdrs are still going strong . . . but dvdrs aren't the same as cdrs either). Good blank media should burn well with most burners.
Uh oh Hope they're ok. Verbatim is aware of the issue, so I wonder if these discs went on sale in attempt to dump stock of this batch.
So far - so good. Just did a couple of them. Unlike the bad spool of Fuji I got, these will burn at 8X. I havn't scanned them yet.. but cursory playback seems OK. I'll watch Casino Royale off a burn tonight and report back. -W
I have burned about ten MAP628Ks that I bought a month ago and no problems with compatibility or playback so far.
To the OP of this thread: You got the DL price correct but OfficeMax is selling the SL Verbs for 35.99 in the 50 packs ie not 12.99. Not a sale at all. I'm in L.A. Whisperer
S/L Verbatims are on sale in my area (Central IL.) but there is some discrepancy in the pricing. The DVD Media page says $12.99 but when you clik on the product it says $14.99. That is for 50pk of 16X +R & -R.
I'm on the eastcoast (Florida) and there selling Verbatim SL 50 16X paks for $12.99 here. WE'RE NOT WORTHY SLYSOFT FOREVER!!!
