Unable to change drive letter persistently

In my Vista 32bit SP1 I'm unable to change the drive letter persistently.

I'm able to change it when Windows is running - e.g. from G:\ to X:\ - but when I restart Windows it turns back to G:\

My current VCD version is 5.0.4.3
