I've been using AnyDVD and CloneDVD since 2005 without having any problems. I recently reformatted my computer and obviously did something different since I'm getting this error. I was using XP Professional before and reformatted with XP Professional. I don't know if Service Pack 3 was installed before the reformat, but I'm pretty sure it was and it's installed now. When I first started getting the error I thought my DVD writer was going bad so I bought a new one and still got the error so then I tried using different brands of media which gave me the error but all were then used on a different computer without any errors.

I have fewer programs installed than before and the 2 new things are an Epson Artisan 810 and I also had Cannon camera software on before but got a new camera and installed the new Cannon software after the reformat. I'm pretty sure those are the only new programs.

I've uninstalled Winamp, added AnyDVD and CloneDVD as trusted programs in Trend Micro, I've uninstalled Arcsoft programs that came with the Cannon software and I'm still getting the error. I used ImgBurn and the only thing found in the Filter Driver Load Order was PxHelp20. I looked in C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers and found Cdr4_xp.sys and Cdralw2k.sys. I don't know which programs installed these but should I delete these? If so, do I just right-click and delete or is there a better way?

The programs being used when the error message happened were Firefox with this site open, this time. I get the same error with nothing running or 4 things running.

I have wasted so many blanks trying to fix this, please tell me it's an easy solution. If there is anything I left out or any questions please ask?

Thank You

Pre-Steps:

i.) The original and blank discs are fine because I was able to burn on another computer with the same software.

Well, the problem could be the burner . . .

I don't really care about the original disc at all in this case (except it appears to contain potentially nasty software on it that may cause problems if autorun is enabled on your computer).

AOPEN COM5232/AAH PRO 1.04 040818AOPEN07016115

1. Provide a Anydvd .zip log file using your burner please. This drive is incapable of burning blank dvd media. It's a cd writer and dvd reader only.

This is a burn issue--not a read issue.

2. Provide the Clonedvd log file (.zip it up)

I looked in C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers and found Cdr4_xp.sys and Cdralw2k.sys.

Sonic or Roxio's Directcd or Dragtodisc installed that crap.

I don't know which programs installed these but should I delete these? If so, do I just right-click and delete or is there a better way?

It's better to use Sonic or Roxio's uninstall program. But if those aren't removed, then yes, you can delete them.

3. Click this

Do what it says to do

DirList

Problematic Process autorun Warning! this disk may contain a rootkit, or other unwanted software.

4. Don't insert this disk without AnyDVD running when Autorun is enabled. Reboot your system. To disable autorun in Windows, see here.

If it has already been run, and you suspect it is a rootkit try to uninstall it with GMER or Sophos-Anti-Rootkit:

I always put the original in the Aopen drive and the blank in the Lite-on. To post an AnyDVD Log for the burner, do I put the original in the burner and then create a log?

Also http://www.firmwarehq.com/Lite-On/iHAP322/files.html says my firmware is current. Is this site reliable?

Yes, but there's no need now. I already have the information I need. Refer to my previous posts.

I deleted these (Cdr4_xp.sys and Cdralw2k.sys) manually because I couldn't find sonic or drag to disc. I don't know what could have installed these.

I updated my IDE driver.

I tried to turn autorun off by going to gpedit.msc but there wasn't anything there.

I tried to copy the disc and still got the write error.

I used gmer, but don't know what I'm looking at:

Do you think I should still update my burner's firmware?

Thanks

I'm not trying to be a pain but there have been five firmware updates since UL15. ImgBurn shows my firmware as current. You definitely know more than me, so if you think I should go back to UL15 tell me yes one more time.

Thanks

Hmmm . . . I'm not sure where those other files are coming from.

click http://www.liteonit.com/global/inde...sk=view&id=268&Itemid=67&limit=1&limitstart=2

Look under "downloads"

Tell me what you see.

UL15 is listed as Oct. 05, 2009

I usually go by the drive brand's website.

But maybe you know something I don't.

I tried to update to UL15N and got an error message:

This utility is only for ATAPI iHAP322 8 drive.

Detected drives:

What else can I do?

I updated my IDE controller with the directions from cdfreaks. I downloaded the smart pack and it says my firmware is up to date. I will try disabling trend micro tomorrow, but I have been using trend micro longer than I've been using clone and anydvd and never had problems.

Thanks

The reason I mention disabling firewall/antivirus is because Zonealarm seems to be causing similar issues: http://forum.slysoft.com/showthread.php?t=36197

So, it's possible other related security software might be as well.

Also, do try another cable (an 80 wire one) on the back of your drive.

Other than that, I'm out of suggestions at this point.

Problem turned out to be Trend Micro. I disabled it and was able to copy 3 in a row without any errors. Anyone have any idea of how to get Trend Micro to allow Any and CloneDVD to work without disabling?

Thanks Webslinger. I appreciate all your help.

You're welcome

1) Have you tried updating your program? click http://www.trendmicro.com/download/default.asp

2) Try also updating virus definitions

3) Contact Trend Micro: http://us.trendmicro.com/us/about/contact/

I use Eset Smart Security (as does Drinklyeanddie). We don't have problems.
You may want to give Eset Smart Security a try:

They do have a free trial: http://www.eset.com/download/free_trial_download.php
