I know it does not at all help you but I recently ripped the 4k version of the disc and it worked. But I don't transcode anything.
 
If you process the anydvd rip through CloneBD (or have anydvd running in the background) you're transcoding with it. It's how CloneBD does its shrinking and converting to other formats.
