the same fails by multiple people?

Is it just me or are there alot of people discovering the same fails. I've been watching the forum and there seem to be countless people who
    a) their drive won't recognize certain original discs.
    b) burned discs freeze up.
Ultimately it always gets blamed on a) your drive is dying
    b) you may not have updated firmware, anydvd, dvdclone etc.
    c) its the discs
But I've changed my drive, used multiple varieties of dvd, and everything is up to date.
This seems to have started around the time anydvd started tweeking hd. could it be affecting drives?
Why is it that multiple people get the sam types of fails in waves?
The last wave of fails I was noticing before this was that lionsgate films were not ripping(saw 3, crank, etc) yet somehow every response I saw to that was" maybe your original was scratched" "maybe its the discs you use" etc
When I know for a fact that it seemed to be all the same studio, and if you removed bogus menus you could bypass their trick/encryption and rip the movie.
Why is it I never here, yeah we've found something and we're working on it please bear with us we appreciate your patience. Its always something else(until you come out with a new version that is) and then that problem disappears and a new wave shows up with a different problem and the same answers,(drive, firmware, dvd type, or goodness forbid someone elses software instead of clonedvd in conjunction with anydvd because that would be the culprit then)
Now dont get me wrong, I love my any dvd, its just that I've noticed these same fails and a total washing of hands that comes with them.

PS. i've been trying to get my email removed as my handle, Ive been told to contact the administrator but not told how to. Ive written to customer service and also got no reply. Could I possibly get a link or an email address of someone who can take care of this.

Some drives can't read the some of the new Sony stuff--much less these:

This is a common issue with junk blank media--especially towards the end of the disc.

What drive? What blanks? Do your backups play in your computer without issue?

I'm aware of less than a handful of people out of more than 7,000 registered users on these boards having a compatibility issue with Anydvd and their readers.

    Please read fully

There are numerous cases (when CRC issues are found) where people exchanged the original disc, and the problem went away.

The main movie isn't the issue with Sony Accros junk. Getting full backups with full menus is the issue.

I have three different burners; three different systems; I am not experiencing any issues with Anydvd/Clonedvd/Clonecd.

There are some instances where I feel there may be a compatibility issue between Anydvd and some drives (notably some of the newer Lite-on firmwares). Otherwise, I notice a number of common user errors and bad originals.

I have some of the same thoughts as you. I also bought one of the newest Lite-On DVDRW's and I have installed it in 6 different PC's with no problems at all. Until someone comes up with a valid solution, the users with those problems will have to continue to go with the canned replies.

When the solutions work are they suddenly not valid?

By the way, concerning Lite-on 20A1H

And there are other threads here. So chances are there is an issue between this drive's firmware and Anydvd.

    Conspiracy ;) Theories:

Is it possible that Sony could have found an encryption-exploitable kink in the firmware of the LiteOn's?

Is it possible that Sony could have made a deal$ with LiteOn for only Sony DVD releases? Cross & Lateral ownership and shareholder voting interest amongst Japanese corporations is very complex and hard to shed "light on" (pun intended). It can be secretive and clanlike. And their laws regarding declaration of "interest" allow much less disclosure than Wall Street's.

    @ *********@*********,

There are thousands apron thousands of AnyDVD – CloneDVD users.

If there were a “Flaw” with AnyDVD – CloneDVD this and many other Web Forums would be Flooded with complaints concerning this “Flaw”. A review of this Forum and other Web Forums do not support this “Flaw” problem theory.

The vast majority of AnyDVD – CloneDVD Web Forum postings involve user “CockPit Error” problems.

Many other AnyDVD – CloneDVD Web Forum posting involve the use of crappy garbage blank DVD Media and using a DVD Burner with old out of date obsolete Firmware.

Many other AnyDVD – CloneDVD Web Forum posting involve problems with the Commercial DVD Movie Title attempting to be copied containing manufacturing flaws.

The above three instances are the overwhelming bulk number of AnyDVD – CloneDVD postings in this and other Web Forums.

The SlySoft Technical Staff Members closely review this Forum and other major Web Forums. When they notice a verified documented “Flaw” they quickly take corrective action to correct the problem.

I have been a registered user of CloneCD, CloneDVD, and AnyDVD since these software programs were first released. I have a total of 5 computers with various hardware and software configurations and CloneCD, CloneDVD, and AnyDVD work flawlessly in all 5 computers.

I worked for Sony for almost a decade. Quite honestly, I would not put this past them. Especially after they were nailed for including rootkits within their copy-protected audio cds a while back.

I wouldn't put ANYTHING past Sony. Seriously. They are as scummy as they come.

That said... the sooner AnyDVD supplies a ripper that will handle this new stuff cleanly.... other people will stop asking similar questions about "cross & lateral interests" between AnyDVD and Elby's CloneDVD. :p

Personally I think it's all a bunch of crap-o-la, but the issues I've had are only becuase of my own doing. I have a Memorex MRX-500N and have had some issues, but what I have found is that if I start to see a problem at the beginning (e.g. reading the main disc first - taking longer then normal 5 to 8 seconds) all I do is remove disc, power cycle system, and it works find.

I think there might be some (SONY) crap being stored in a temp that would cause this. When you power cycle (at least the way mine is set up) the cache gets cleared.

I guess it's all in what one expects of any one product. I sy that AnyDVD and CloneDVD2 together have solved every problem I've come up against (except that dreaded ribbon cable crap I had a while back -- LOL).

Just my thoughts on the subject.

    Cheer's :)

What is "power cycle system"? Is that a Vista thing? XP? I use a dedicated box running 2000Pro SP4 because of it's lack of MS digital rights stuff. Some programs store the rip in the regular windows temp, others, like CloneDVD, have their own temp folder. Interesting thoughts on the sony/temp stuff but AnyDVD stops autoload stuff ...

Quite the contrary........... but I have yet to see a solution that is valid.

For "a)" if "certain original discs" can't be read 1) the drive is either bad or dying, 2) the original discs are bad, 3)something is messed up with your lower/upper filters in your registry or there's some driver issue, or 4) some players simply can't see discs with insane disc structures. Period

If you're referring to drive disabling, then you simply haven't searched enough:

    And for "b)" . . .

All I can say is you've got to be kidding me; that's one of the biggest "user error" issues that exists, starting with poor blank media choices.

"power cycle system" = shut down, turn power off - wait 10 to 20 seconds ( to be sure everything has stopped as some drives will still spin after power cycle) then turn system back on.

Okay, I might have mis-spoke about the cache, its really something that is held in the ram. I have not been able to put an exact finger on this yet, but it never seems to fail that after I do a complete "power cycle" the problem goes away.
It's not a Vista thing because I refuse to upgrade. Heck man, I just up graded to XP Home the first of the year and have been using 2K ...LOL... because once again I am the type that firmly believes that " if it ain't broke, don't fix it " and when it is broke, " take ur time because time is worth fixing something serious "....

Not really sure what is going on, but like I've said over and over, with AnyDVD and CloneDVD2 I have not had any problems.

    Cheer's :)

Sony is horrible, I wouldn't put anything past them. They pull this sleazy kind of stuff all the time. I for one will never buy another Sony product of any type. They can kiss my Rameda!! :disagree:

The whole point of the thread was that I "read" (notice I corrected myself this time, I didn't "hear" what people are saying) the same fails in waves, and that not once have I read thats something we're working on, or "yes someones come out with something, and we're on top of it, please be patient"
But what I have noticed is how as soon as I point this out you get defensive and say "give me a break" and that "I dont have a firm grasp" of firmware.
Well bad media maybe where it starts, but doesn't necessarily have to be where it ends. If everything was fine and the only thing changed is your software, maybe, just maybe its the software. I dont ever hear that possibllity come from you(I meant to say read, but you get the point).
Your comeback is if I knew anything about discs I would know that maybe the next disc down was bad. You're right I never went to school for that either, I guess its possible that every discs after someone makes the change in software could be bad, I myself have read enough in the forums to know which brands are highly recommended(taiyo yuden, verbatim) and I've tried many others too, and it didn't fix the prob.movies still froze.
And I guess it could be firmware, I updated my firmware didn't fix the prob.
As far as my grasp on firmware, or lack thereof, unfortunately stems from my only contact with this term stemmed from you webslinger throwing the term out, When I heard the term unfortunately my testes did'nt twitch and then I automatically knew what it was, I'm afraid I'm not very technologocally minded as as you I've never hosted a forum, I've been an avionics technician working as a tech station and component specialist on advanced electronics of three different aircraft, but maybe if you talk to me like an idiot I might get it.
And as far as drives not recognizing discs, it could be my drive but I replaced that too. So many other people are having the same problems all of a sudden
Discs not recognized in drives and movies freezing up on playback, it just seemed odd, and that's it. And you can repeat the same things over and over, and it doesn't seem to be solving the problem, with me or others, and you can put me down and how little I know, but I've burned a couple of thousand or so, so I'm somewhat familiar with the trends of fails as times gone by.
NEVER have I encountered so much bad media as I have lately though, man I've tried like six different brands in the last few weeks and they need to get their act together they've produced some serious junk lately.

Actually my entire response there is directed at oldjoe--not you. The only reason I quoted you is because to me it wasn't clear what oldjoe was referring to (as in, "valid solution" to what problem, exactly? So I had to go back and quote the two issues you listed to make certain.).

Quite often it does. There are numerous threads where people were using junk media, and they switched to what I and others recommended, and the problem miraculously went away.

It depends on the issue. If it's Shrink compatibility, then yes, it's the software.

I don't even know what software you're using, what your burner is, what movies you're trying to back up, etc.
Have you even answered fully anywhere?

Could be anything. I'm not a mind reader.

    Answer fully

OK, hopefully others will help you. 'Cause I don't have time for your nonsense. Goodbye

You won't help me?, I didn't ask for your help. I was stating an opinion about slysoft never being at fault
When I did ask for your help, like you said to everyone else with the same problems, its your media, its your drive. SEVERAL TYPES OF MEDIA AND 1 DRIVE LATER AND SEVERAL HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS POORER, it still fails. Like alot of other peoples
-some discs dont get recognized in the drive
    -movies freeze
    and other DRIVE related issues
But this only started for when slysoft started implementing hd/blu ray and I guess I wondered in the back of my mind was since I dont have an hd drive if the new stuff you been adding to the old software is not working 100% with everyone's drive.
But I'm sure its not slysoft. It cant be, that was never one of your corrective fixes or acknowledgements, untill a new version comes out,
fixing some completely unrelated problem like bulgarian subtitle decryption or such issue, and the problem will disappear, along with the hundreds of $'s I already spent getting a new drive & media.

I have just finished reading JOHNMC and agree with everyting he said. I have been burning movies for a while know using 1ClickDVD Copy. I have used different media in the past and rarely had any problems. Ever since the introduction of AnyDVD HD things are not working correctly any more.
The latest problem I am encountering is trying to burn "Harsh Times". I have tried 4 different times using 3 different media and I get similar results. The burner tells me that the copy compleated OK, but only part of the movie is actually copied. To make matters worse, it copies different amouts each time. Please undersand that I am not trying to make life difficult for anybody but it may be very productive tosee if there is anything wrong with this
    AnyDVD HD compatibility issue.

1-Click also has a great forum, I hear. Have you tried asking about your problems there? Unfortunately, I'm
not overly familiar with the program.
