There is a Brazilian label called Obras Primas, who released the very first 4K Blu-Ray disc. The release title is "O Vingador do Futuro", related to Paul Verhoeven's film Total Recall.

There are two editions of the disc, one of them meant for collectors. The simplest version consists of one single UHD Blu-Ray.

I was surprised that the protection included in the disc could not be identified by AnyDVD HD. In my Home theater standalone player, however, it plays perfectly fine. The RedFox support is aware of the issue and asked me to wait until a new AnyDVD update is released. Up to the latest beta version the disc still cannot be played in the PC.

I now decided to run the AnyDVD Scanner utility, which shows:

Code:

Please note: for some unknown reason, the former Brazilian pressing facilities, which issues ordinary Blu-Ray disc, decided not to manufacture 4K discs. This was once the largest home video market in South America.

Apparently, the Obras Primas initiative comes from an imported disc, from a foreign pressing plant. Those two editions are not cheap, though. Also, the source of the transfer was not publicized, but it seems to have come from Studio Canal.

Anyhow, I hope that the above scanning may help or give a hint to the RedFox programming team.

It means the key is not known for that disc. I suggest you create a dump with the KeyDB Tools program found here:

You can attach the created dump to this thread and I'll see what I can do about finding a key.

I now decided to run the AnyDVD Scanner utility

Hi Paulo!

Yup, this is an unsupported UHD.

You should have gotten the unsupported message:

"Cannot process request at this moment, please try again later"

Since you've already created a Scanner report, I'll go ahead and add your title to the UN-supported List in that thread.

That way you'll be automatically notified as soon as your key is available -- which may be in a minute, or in a few days, no way to know - lol.

I'll add "Brazil" as an option to the Country list in the Scanner, so it's available there for your future titles.

Title have to be listed there in English so I'll change this to "Total Recall (1990)" for you for this one.

Be on the lookout for a "key available" notification, and when it comes download the latest keyfile and make a final Scanner report to show the title is supported.

The RedFox support is aware of the issue and asked me to wait until a new AnyDVD update is released. Up to the latest beta version the disc still cannot be played in the PC.

Meant to mention, if someone told you to wait for the next release, they may not have understood your UHD is not supported yet.

UHD support doesn't come with releases at all -- only happens when there is a key either in the AnyDVD online database (OPD) or in a local keyfile you download from the public one.

And that happens when you proactively take steps to report the unsupported title and get help obtaining a key for it if necessary, which you've done now...

T

I can't do anything with that. I need the dump.
OK, could you please explain how can I get that information?

I am a newbie to this program. In the KeyDB Tools main screen I see the folloring options: Synchronize, Submit Metadata (the one displayed above), and Drive Details. In the FinVUK AnyDVD Configuration screen the options are: Copy to MakeMKV, and Eject Disc.

Which one should I choose?

Yes, that's the message that surfaced on screen after AnyDVD tried to identify the disc. By all means, please include this release in the unsupported list, thanks.

OK, I think I figure it out now. I got a Dump directory and a dump zip file. Please see if it fits, if not let me know.

Fantastic! Thanks. I never knew we had this resource. I download the keydb.cfg file per testiles'' instructions, and it was easier than I thought. I was also asked by him to send a new scanner report, and I will that soon.

Yeah for future titles, use the keydb tools to synchronize the keydb file to see if a key has been added. If not use the dump feature to send me a dump so I can attempt to find a key for you.
