December 10, 2009 - Today BioWare announced the names of several of the voice actors for the upcoming Mass Effect 2. Among the notables who are lending their talents to the game are: Martin Sheen ("The West Wing"), Shorhreh Aghdashloo ("House of Saddam"), Seth Green ("Austin Powers"), Keith David ("Crash"), Michael Dorn ("Star Trek: Deep Space Nine"), Tricia Helfer and Michael Hogan ("Battlestar Galactica"), Carrie-Ann Moss ("The Matrix"), Yvonne Strahovski ("Chuck"), and Adam Baldwin ("Predator 2: Electric Boogaloo").
Dr. Ray Muzyka, BioWare's co-founder and General Manager of EA's RPG/MMO group, praised the cast:
"Emotionally engaging narrative is a key design pillar for BioWare, and the top-notch voice talent in Mass Effect 2 helps drive this goal... Credible, powerful personalities are vital to delivering a compelling story experience in BioWare's games, and we have assembled an amazing ensemble cast that surpasses the very high bar set in the original Mass Effect!"
The company also outlined the roles that many of these stars will play. It's no big surprise that Seth Green will return as Joker or that Keith David reprises his role as Admiral Anderson. Of the new actors, Martin Sheen will star as "the mysterious Illusive [sic] Man who commands Cerberus, a secretive paramilitary organization dedicated to protecting human interests in the galaxy." Yvonne Strahovski plays a genetically enhanced Cerberus operative Miranda Lawson. Tricia Helfer provides the new voice of the Normandy, EDI. Carrie-Ann Moss plays the crime lord Aria T'Loak, Shohreh Adhdashloo plays Admiral Shala'Raan vas Tonbay, Michael Hogan plays Captain Bailey, Adam Baldwin plays Kal 'Reegar, and Michael Dorn plays Gatatog Uvenk.
The game is still set for a January 26 release in North America.
