Saving to PC hard drive and playing on HD TV

Hello everyone.
I have a question concerning saving a purchased movie to my hard drive. I want to transfer all my DVDs to Hard Drive in order to select and play them on my Sony 1080i.
Can anyone advise me as to the best way to do this? I would like to have a device between the PC (Wireless?) and the TV so I could just select and watch.
I'm not rich but want a dependable system.
