the player will say that play is prohibited please , check disc the disc is new and unsratched but, it will play just fine in my kids 25.00 wally world special.
you can push stop and then play and it will start somewere in the movie or not at all. in both instances it continues to say loading on the front of the player. i have tryed saving it as a iso/ufo and burning it in nero but, it just has the same problim. i own anydvd and was using dvd shrink and the player had no problems at all with the disc i made that way. it would even play divx burned strait to a disc with out even a issue at all. i was going to buy clone dvd because of the new sony disc incription but , with it not playing on my main player i am glad i tryed the demo. is this problem common and will there be a update that will fix it? i realy like clone dvd it is simple and easy to use not like so many that i have tryed before and would like to buy. please help!!!!

    Please follow these steps:

    1.http://forum.slysoft.com/showthread.php?t=2516
(you can probably ignore step 5, but the rest are important--especially 2 and 4)

    2. Also in Anydvd, please ensure you're using the default settings in Anydvd (click the red fox icon on your toolbar, click "default").

    1) What version of Clonedvd2 are you using?
    http://static.slysoft.com/SetupCloneDVD.exe

    2. What version of Anydvd are you using?
    http://static.slysoft.com/SetupAnyDVD.exe

    3. What blank media are you using?

    4. Do step 8 from http://forum.slysoft.com/showthread.php?t=393 please

my dvd burner is also at the latest version 3.07
and it is not just sony copy right no disc burned with clone dvd will work in it
maybe i should try dvd-r's to see if they will work?

    1) Dvd-shrink may be changing the booktype to "dvd-rom" for you by default.
    This would explain a lot.

    2) Normal Maxell media (that is anything other than Maxell Plus and Maxell Broadcast Quality; Maxell Plus and Maxell Broadcast Quality are excellent) should be avoided. Try Taiyo Yuden 8x dvd-r instead.
Fuji has become complete junk (at one time Taiyo Yuden made the Fuji blanks that were made in Japan--and those were good times for Fuji . . . but that's no longer the case), and Memorex is always a crapshoot (you'll never know what you get--and most often, it's bad).

Simply stated some standalone dvd players simply won't play +R media (and might not even recognize it)--but they will play "dvd-rom" media. The booktype tells the standalone player what kind of media it's dealing with (in a sense). So changing the booktype from "+R" to "dvd-rom" improves the chance of playback/compatibility with standalone dvd players. Not all burners can change booktype though.

well if you think that dvd shrink is changing the book type why can i not change it.
ok this is probably something i should know but dvd+r,? [dvd-r/dvd-rom same thing?]

I'm not positive that it is. Your question is valid. I'm not sure if your NEC does support bitsetting changes. If you can't change the booktype using either of the options mentioned, there's a good chance your drive doesn't support it--in which case, I would then question your blank media choices. Some discs may produce good burns, but not all will--and if you got good results with Fuji in the past that's understandable if they were made by Taiyo Yuden (made in Japan).

If you follow these steps, you will have better success:

dvd-r and dvd-rom are not the same thing. That said, older standalone players are more apt to play "dvd-r" than "dvd+r"--unless the dvd+r's booktype has been changed to "dvd-rom".

I don't believe that's going to solve this issue, but you can give it a try, I suppose.

I can't take responsibility for using 3rd party firmware. That's a risk you will have to take.

If you just want the main movie only with Shrink, try this:

Right click on Anydvd on the toolbar, and select "rip-video dvd to harddisk". After you're finished ripping you should be able to import the main movie only into Shrink (Click "reauthor" and then browse to the location of the video_ts folder. Then drag and drop the main movie over to the left).

I have no idea. I don't live in the U.S.

I see a lot of Americans ordering from rima.com, but I have no experience with Rima.

I'd be curious if the following works.

If that doesn't work then the issue lies with either the blank media you're using or your standalone dvd player.
