A backup by clone DVD will not play on my new Sony BD, samsung BD, or Sony DVD/VHS copier. It will play on my two older Liteon's (Model 5005 and 5000 I think). It will play on my new Viore TV but only by pressing fast forward. Cant remember if the buttons on the side made it work but don't think so. Even with playing by pressing FF it displays preview but works anyway. This is a backup from Sony Pictures. I preserved menus and did not remove annoying things in front of the titles. It works up to the movie. Then there she stays.

Is this something Slysoft can fix? I may have had this problem on another DVD just recently but cant remember though as I didn't go through all the testing I did this disk.

Have a nice day

Make sure you are using the latest software versions. If you aren't then update. Post AnyDVD log files from the original DVD.

  1. Ensure Anydvd is running.
  2. Put the problematic original movie dvd in your burner. Wait for Anydvd to scan the disc.
  3. Right click the red fox icon on your toolbar.
  4. Select "Create Logfile"
  5. Wait for Anydvd to create a log file.
  6. A pop-up screen will appear. Take note of the location where Anydvd created the logfile and the logfile's name. Click "ok".
  7. Windows Explorer will open, and you will see a zip file called "Anydvd_Info_titleofmydisc.zip" (or something similar)
  8. When replying or posting in the Slysoft forums, look for the icon that looks like
    attach.gif
(in other words, look for the paperclip after clicking "quote" or when creating a new thread)
  9. If you don't see that paperclip icon, click the "go advanced" button. You should see that icon now. Click the paperclip.
  10. A small pop-up screen should appear (if it doesn't please ensure your browser is enabled to allow pop-ups from the Slysoft forums)
  11. Click the "Browse" button, and locate and select the .zip file you created.
  12. click "upload"
  13. Close the window. When you submit reply, or submit a new thread, the .zip file will be attached automatically for us to take a look at

Is this something Slysoft can fix?

No. It's likely a blank disc compatibility issue. And Elaborate Bytes is the official developer of Clonedvd--not Slysoft. Slysoft is a reseller of Clonedvd.
from Frequently Asked Questions (READ BEFORE YOU POST!)

10. My backups play on my computer or standalone dvd player, but not in something else. Why?

First, if the backup is playing in a standalone dvd player or on your computer that means Clonedvd worked.

The most common reason why you're having this problem (if the backup doesn't work in a standalone dvd player) is due to a compatibility issue between the blank media you're using and whatever you're using to play the backup in (standalone dvd player, for example). Basically your dvd player, dvd-rom drive, etc. doesn't like the blank media you're using (or if you're using +R media, you didn't change the booktype to "dvd-rom"). You can try choosing other blank media (+r instead of -r, for example, and change the booktype to "dvd-rom")--or buy a different standalone dvd player (or a different dvd-rom drive, burner, etc.).

If you're using dvd-r media and your standalone dvd player gives you a message similar to ""Play Prohibited, please check disc", use dvd+r media instead and change the booktype to "dvd-rom" (see "b)" below).

a) Are you using junk blank media? If you're not using Taiyo Yuden (not valueline), Verbatim Datalife Plus, Maxell Plus, or Maxell Broadcast Quality, then chances are the answer to this question is "yes". If you use junk blank media, then you should expect problems.

b) Click this and read FULLY (especially take a look at point 4 for more information on bitsetting/booktyping, but all points are very important)

The same factors also apply to why the backup doesn't play in your computer (but there can be other factors including buggy or poorly installed dvd player software, bad drivers, etc.). It's also possible the playback device/player that can't play the disc is slowly dying.

All's well

I cloned the entire DVD and it played just fine.
