As much as I enjoy the software, the only thing holding me back from using VCD solely is the lack of image file format support.

Would it be possible to get support for MDF+MDS, CUE, BWI/B5I/B6T, CDI, NRG, etc? Then it would be perfect. 8)

Surely I can't be the only one who thinks this?!

You are not, but it seems if the formats you mention are to be supported, VCD will have to use a more system-invasive driver, like Alcohol or Daemon Tools do. They use the SPTD driver which is known to cause various problems with CD/DVD/BD reader/writer hardware (mainly speed issues I think), and such a driver will clash with AnyDVD in one way or the other.
 
I know that Alcohol and Daemon Tools use sptd.sys hence I prefer to stay away from them. Software like WinCDEmu, PowerIso, UltraIso, gBurner Virtual Drive, etc., don't and they don't seem to have any issues mounting these additional formats.
