Region 4 "Feast"

When trying to back up this disc it gets to 43% and then screams to a halt. After many, many minutes (several hours) it has reached about 70% and then slows right down again. Eventually it simply gives up altogether with a message saying it can't copy the disk (DVD NeXTCopy).

I have also tried backing up with AOA DVD Copy but it exhibits the same exhibit symptoms. AOA does, however, give me a "Sector Too Large Contact Apollo Software" error message before dying.

    Any suggestions?

I will try turning off the Jump to Main Movie option, and if that doesn't work, I'll post the Information window when I get home.

    Thanks.

Try cleaning your disc. Download Nero cd-dvd speed. It's a free program. Select the tab labeled "scandisc". Select the appropriate drive letter, and click "start". If Nero cd-dvd speed reports read errors, your disc is (probably) bad and needs to be exchanged--even if it plays fine (or your optical drive could be slowly dying).

    Webslinger,
I know you don't take it as seriously as I do, but this part bothers me.
BTW, is this a Matsushita drive?

Edit: duh! ... no it's not a MatsuMatsu based on the AnyDVD readout above.

Just running the Nero CD/DVD Speed program. It has now dropped to a read speed of 0.01 and is showing groups of red and yellow. Funny thing is that it plays absolutely flawlessly on my DVD player. Left it for about 30 minutes and it progressed only about four squares. I can assume that the PC does not like that disk at all!
