RCE on Premonition

I'm trying to back up my copy of Premonition before flying out on vacation. AnyDVD reports no RCE protection:

Summary for drive S: (AnyDVD 6.1.6.5)
HP DVD WRITER 1040D EH23 2007/02/02
Drive (Hardware) Region: 0 (not set!)

Media is a DVD.
Booktype: dvd-rom (version 1), Layers: 2 (opposite)
Size of first Layer: 2027168 sectors (3959 MBytes)
Total size: 3938816 sectors (7693 MBytes)

Video DVD (or CD) label: Premonition
Media is CSS protected!
Video Standard: NTSC
Media is locked to region(s): 1!

RCE protection not found.
DVD structure appears to be correct.
Structural copy protection not found.
Autorun not found on Video DVD.
Bad sector protection not found.
Emulating RPC-2 drive with region 1!


However, when I try to back it up using Shrink, I get RCE protection found, and the backup ultimately fails.

Any thoughts?

You do not have a Region Code selected/set for your DVD Burner. For the AnyDVD Software Program to function and operate correctly requires that the DVD Device have a Region Code properly selected/set. Below are the steps to select/set the Region Code for your DVD device ->

Right click the fox on your toolbar. Exit Anydvd
ii. Click start. Right click on "My computer"--->select "properties".
iii.Click on the 'Hardware' tab--->click the 'device manager' button.
iv. Open the dvd/cdrom branch---> right click on your optical drive
v. Click "properties".
vi. You should have a region tab. From there you can select a region.
vii. Select the region that matches the region on the disc
viii. Start Anydvd
ix. click the fox icon on your toolbar. Go to Video dvd--->settings
x. Change the default to match the region on the disc
xi. Click Ok

I can't believe I missed that...

I guess it's just a case where I've stared at this damn screen for too long today that I'm just not seeing what I should.

:)

Oddly, I still got that RCE protection found error in Shrink...but I set it to region 1 and it appears to be copying okay thus far.

I'll post back as to whether it actually finishes or not.

Backup Successful

It appears that the backup completed and burned successfully. I'll know for sure when I double-check it later this evening.
