First thing I made sure was the DVD played fine in the DVD player. It did show me the movie.
Then I tried using both AndDVD HD 7.6.2 and CloneDVD 2.9.3.3 to backup my Monsters University DVD. Here are the steps I followed:
1> Let AnyDVD scan the DVD. After it finished I see the following in the AnyDVD window. It seems to have worked fine to my untrained eye:
"Summary for drive D: (AnyDVD HD 7.6.2.0, BDPHash.bin 15-07-01)
HL-DT-ST DVDRWBD CT30N A101 10/11/08 7U01
Drive (Hardware) Region: 1
Current profile: DVD-ROM
Media is a DVD.
Booktype: dvd-rom (version 1), Layers: 2 (opposite)
Size of first Layer: 2084112 sectors (4070 MBytes)
Total size: 4163808 sectors (8132 MBytes)
Video DVD (or CD) label: MONSTERS_UNIVERSITY
Media is CSS protected!
Media is locked to region(s): 1 4!
Video Standard: NTSC
Using online database!
Found & removed structural copy protection!
Found & removed invalid cell pieces!
Found & removed bogus title set(s)!
RCE protection not found.
UDF filesystem patched!
Autorun not found on Video DVD.
Removed CSS copy protection!
Found & removed 19 potential bad sector protections!
Emulating RPC-2 drive with region 1!"
2> Right click on AnyDVD icon in taskbar and click on "Rip Video Disc to Harddisk". AnyDVD proceeded to work for a few minutes and gave me a folder MONSTERS UNIVERSITY.
3> I mounted the folder using Virtual CloneDrive. But all it showed me was a 5 min small video, not the main movie. The folder size is also extremely small i.e. 789 MB. Normally for movies without protection the folder size is 7 GB or more.
4> Opened CloneDVD and clicked on "Copy DVD Titles". Selected the drive containing Monsters University. But the video titles screen shows only a few titles having 6:46 or 5:27 length. Dont see a title which should be around the length of the movie. Again the preview of titles only shows the small video, not the main movie.
