PowerDVD: playing media files from HDD

Currently I have built 2911c0 which came with LG combo drive -- I have options to open 'Movie file' (directory rip playback from HDD) or 'Media files' (to play stand alone files from HDD) -- It is pretty common knowledge that should I upgrade to "latest and greatest" version I will lose 'Movie file' playback from HDD functionality and have to use Daemon tools, etc.

But what about 'Media files' option, did they also remove functionality of playing media files from HDD ?
