The settings within AnyDVD HD offer control of playback speed of Audio and Video DVD to reduce noise of the drive. Then there is the option "Other Media" IIRC. Is it suitable to control BluRay playback speed? I ask because I installed a new drive which is capable of UHD reading, but it's much louder than the previous one.
 
Some drives, such as Pioneer, you can download the utility from the manufacturer to set modes. Performance, Silent, etc. If you're playing an actual disc I could see why you'd want it to be quiet.
