on the old i73770 cpu, did I turn off Hyper-threading due to a reported security bug like that will have ANYDVD on the job?

Not entirely sure, I understand your question, but:
AnyDVD would work just fine and efficient on a single-core CPU without hyper-threading.
Actually: hyper-threading doesn't add all that much performance to any - not even heavily multithreaded - application. Multiple actual cores do.
But AnyDVD isn't processor intensive, so it won't make a difference.
