New Updates

I understand perfectly how code works. Designer in a way myself. What you don't seem to realise it's that you've likely gotten YEARS worth of updates for a good price. The bigger discounts are reserved for users who bought eg a lifetime license and only got a few months out of it. Making it a very expensive few months with very few updates. Big difference. As also stated above, you need to dig some more info researching what the initial discount plans were. They were going to send out mails to LTL's but realized what a massive burden that would place on support. On top of that they couldn't possibly contact every single user due to out of date email addresses. They're already swamped with people for the 2 bigger ones. So instead of overloading the support staff they made it an automated discount directly applied through the store. Just because you get a smaller discount doesn't mean you're any less appreciated. You got years worth of updates, others at most a few months. So they get the bigger discount.

You paid slysoft, not redfox. You keep comparing the 2 as if they are the same, they're not! Blame the CEO for taking so the cash with him and leaving the staff with nothing, and the USA for giving the MPAA/aacs-la civilian authorities way too much power and forcing their laws onto foreign countries where they have 0 jurisdiction.

Now, again, debating the discounts is over. The options were lined out months ago and debated even longer ago. You have a choice to make, but nobody will like you any less regardless of your choice.

Please do not disparage me and other paying customers.

I did NOT get what I (and countless others) paid for, which is lifetime updates.

My point is that RedFox got source code from (now defunct) SlySoft and is now charging again for said source code from SlySoft's customer base.

I am willing to contribute again in the form of labor (code) or money, but not at the rate you are asking (~80% of what we already paid).

Simple as this Slysoft went belly up the devolopers did not get paid from the owner of the Slysoft many of us including myself wanted Anydvd to continued the former slysoft staff started a new company REDFOX which needs to be funded.

I was one of the first to buy a new lifetime license the new company did not take on any liablities of the now defunct slysotft pure and simple.

It is your choice rather you need Redfox Anydvd hd or not or purchase it again.

I'm afraid you did sir, the "LIFETIME" of the COMPANY that sold you the product is over. That is what that "lifetime" means. If it was YOUR lifetime then every one would live forever and their great great great great great grandkids would be getting the updates right. And I don't remember Slysoft asking how old I was either so how would they know how long I could live in a lifetime.

apaxi, all I can do is provide a little levity, for the pain of the situation. With some old school SAT.

The rise of RedFox from Slysoft is to Cognitive Dissonance as:
A) I thought I saw a putty tat.
B) It's like de'ja vu all over again
C) Able was I, I saw Elba.
D) Are you going to believe me or your lying eyes.

Sorry to always be a moaner, but that's a pretty biased presentation.
I can only refer to that article again: http://www.heise.de/ct/ausgabe/2016-9-Hintergruende-zum-Ende-von-SlySoft-3169841.html

Unfortunately nobody of the staff wants to make anything public or disclaim/comment articles. Why, nobody knows.
Quote of an Admin: "It's about preserving ourselves from harm, so please refrain from that rubbish with your conspiracy theory. Over and out !"

Conspiracy theory ? The article is by a reputable IT desk and was confirmed by another "usually well informed" source.

In addition it's noteable nobody considers the odds are it wasn't exactly sly to stay in Antigua from the moment on the CEO was sentenced in accordance with Antiguan law - not US law. But they felt to be in the right, so they stayed with "Buddy Casino".

They made a statement a while back. Rather than paying the staff the wages they were due, be signed over the rights to the name 'anydvd HD' and left.

Someone on here accused me once of being rather "closed minded" (which I took to be only HALF tongue in cheek) when I made the statement that arguing does not make any sense. When someone has made their mind up or has an opinion it is to the best of THEIR ability to understand the facts. NO amt of debate generally will get them to change their opinions. To do THAT they would have to admit they were wrong in their thinking, and to admit their ideas, beliefs, and whatever else were flawed. Neither side generally will give. It's up to the bystanders to pick which side they belong to. APAXI proves my point. Neither side DID concede. So on this debate, I am not close minded at all. I chose to pay for a new license because Slysoft is dead and RedFox deserves a chance to live another day.

And PS: Ch3vr0n - I don't think you understand how coding works.

It is obvious that RedFox developers were given the source code that SlySoft engineers had developed over the course of many years (of which many of us paid to use). I am fully supportive of either closed-source of open-source projects, and have actively contributed to both in my career through labor or money.

I am pissed that those of us who contributed money toward SlySoft/RedFox code are not being acknowledged in the form of more than 20% of what we contributed. I am happy to give more to make up for the other 80% you all are now asking in the form of code, but no, I do not want to give another 80% in the form of money for another "lifetime" subscription for what I have already paid for in cash.
Hello, when you are ready to buy, ( because I know you will) let me know and you can have a 20% discount like everyone else.

Haha, you are most likely right. Thank you, I will PM you later.
