I just starting using my new laptop Asus i7-4510U CPU 2.00GHz 2.60 GHz
8.GB RAM
64-bit
Windows 8
DVD Matshita DVD-RAM UJ8E2 S

And is much slower then my old 2008 desktop. something like old desktop 22 min new laptop like 39min for DVD movie rip and burn. Any thoughts on this.

And is there a USB3 external blu-ray reader/write you can recommend for burning

long time user of Slysoft software never really had to post as I have been able to find everything I need on this forum.

Laptop drives are notorious for being slow simply due to the way they are built (less room than a desktop/external one) and matshita drives are the worst and cheapest of them all.

As far as brands go, I don't know if they make USB3 ones but my favorite brand is LG. works absolutely wonders in combination with quality blanks like verbatim.

Vantec makes an external usb3 enclosure NEXSTAR. Install the optical drive of your choice, I prefer LG drives.
