It looks like I am going to be buying a new burner, so I would like some suggestions. I need a good, reliable drive that won't dry up my wallet.
I am seriously looking at this one. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16827106050 Any suggestions about it?
Some people apparently claim to be having problems with the newer Lite-on burners and Anydvd (and it's not just that thread): http://club.cdfreaks.com/showthread.php?t=208522
Oh yeah, I remember that thread. Well I am unsure of what to do Web, I can't find those Benq ones. I just want a quality, reliable drive.
http://www.pricegrabber.com/p__Pion...ter_Black,__17849090/search=Pioneer%2BDVR-111 What about this though Web http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16827151133 ?
New Egg has the Pioneer (oh, wait they're out of stock) I don't want to start turning you away from other brands, because eventually I'm going to start getting flamed by fans of those brands.
This one looks good then. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16827129007 Or I could get this one. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16827129001 The first one is in-stock. And it is 18x instead of 16x.
The problem is I haven't seen any reviews of the 112 yet--and that second link is showing out of stock. If the second link were in-stock, I would tell you to buy it.
A little more background. I have dual drives. I have a Sony DVD-ROM, which will get replaced, and a Philips DVD+-RW which will stay. So if I get this DVD+-RW drive, I'll have dual DVD burners, sweet! I'm just waiting to see which one of those I should buy.
The Plextor PX-760A is pricey, but comes with a $30 rebate, if you buy before Feb. 28th (I have one): http://www.plextorshop.com/products/pdfs/rebates/PX-760A/Rebate_$30_PX-760A_02.28.07.pdf
Personally, I would wait for cdfreaks, cdrlabs, or cdrinfo to post an official review first. Up to you
Plextor costs too much. There's even a firmware upgrade available for the Pioneer DVR-112D too. I'll probably go that way if the DVR-111 doesn't come in.
The CompUSA near my house has a Micro Advantage or something like that dvd burners for $50.00 that`s a rebadged BenQ DW1650.
