It's been a long time since I have used this program.

I used to rip image and burn image file to blu ray for backup purposes.

However, I'm not looking to rip to discs.

Is it possible to playback ISO files directly on computer, or does it need to be converted?

I would prefer not to loose any quality. What are my options?

Thanks guys!

You have to mount an ISO file with a virtual drive software like Virtual CloneDrive or DAEMON Tools.
The ISO can then be used just like a physical disc.
Also, some software players can directly open ISO files without the need of a virtual drive.

I've tried playing in VLC but nothing happens.

I have also tried opening mounting with DAEMON tools, but when I play it it just opens up the folder and shows it's contents such as BDMV, CERTIFICATE folder, ANY!, and disc.inf

Any idea whats going on?

VLC isn't a Blu-ray player, at best it'll guess the right playlist, but usually picks the one with the longest playlist and with screenpass protection in existence that's usually a wrong one.

It also can't display any menus. You need a licensed player such as PowerDVD ultra.

VLC can't really play blu ray discs. Use CloneBD to create an .mkv file and play it in your media player software - like VLC. Or use a licensed Blu-ray player software like PowerDVD.
