So.... we have this laptop - about to be given to a 10 year old kid.

P4 2.6ghx, 1g RAM, 40g HD, DVD Drive. (and a USB thingie for WIFI)
ATI onboard video - (gutless)
Windows XP Pro SP3
Office 2000
PowerDVD XP
Win. Media Player 10
Acrobat (PDF reader) 11

So far the thing rocks... no issues at all.
But I know that Firefox will bog badly.

What's a nice LIGHT browser that will go in this thing that might actually "run well" ???
Thanks!

hi Clams, maximum pc magazine just reviewed firefox, chrome, an edge. winner was chrome. if you dont have lots of tabs open at the same time or alot of extensions added on it, was good. if had alot of them on then it would use plenty of your computer resources. i use it an like it.

Is Windows a must ?
Set up a similar PC shortly and found Lubuntu run so much smoother - also the browsing.
Though i have to admit it had a much better dedicated GPU.
You could try a LiveCD of 14.04 if it's an option.

I wound up going with an older version of Firefox and locked updates.

Also a good choice regarding speed.
I thought you want a current browser version.

I did but my options were VERY limited for a PC that old.
