Media write errors...after installing CloneDVD

Thanks in advance for any feedback.....I used trial CloneDVD for a month without incident. Purchased CloneDVD and now I receive media write errors when cloning a DVD. Media = Sony 4.7 & Memorex DL. When prompted to insert a blank DVD, whatever brand I Insert receives a media error after a few seconds. If I insert another blank, CloneDVD accepts and completes the burn. Every time...first blank fails, second blank completes. Have updated DVD drivers to latest. Any ideas?

Sony isn't terrible, but Memorex is. Use Verbatim +R DL only.

    1. Ensure your burner is set to master and not slave (check both the cable and the jumper on the back on the drive).

    2. Try not running other programs in the background while burning (including browser and email).

    3. Click this

Do what it says to do.

Use one of the programs mentioned, and list your Lowerfilters and Upperfilters in your next post.

    Or for XP users only,
    Click Start, Run
    type regedit
    Go to
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\Current Control Set\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

We want what's listed in "LowerFilters" and "UpperFilters". List your Lowerfilters and Upperfilters in your next post.

Before you do this visit http://www.cdr-zone.com/forum/about4719.html, and read the first post please, so you can get a better understanding of what is going on.

    5. Use good quality media only
    visit http://www.redflagdeals.com/forums/showpost.php?p=4764653&postcount=25

    6. Update your burner's firmware (if available)

Thanks for the response. I did read the feedback you gave other users with similar issues. I thought the fact that the first blank fails, but introducing a second blank is always successful might be significant. Until I activated the CloneDVD app, I would trash a blank once in 10 tries with the CloneDVD trial other burn applications. Something changed.....not necessarily with CloneDVD, but something has changed on my laptop to cause this issue. Back to the drawing board!

It is significant. In fact, I was able to duplicate the issue on someone else's system until I checked steps 1-4. And after changing everything to the way it should be, the problem was resolved.

The last two steps listed are just general advice . . .
