Lossy music and resolution.

yes, 1028 is a bass monster...really cool on bass shy headphones :)

but I think 1363 has even more bass and tighter too.

I'll give the 1028 a week :p

the lt1363's bass definitely seems tighter, but i think i like the 1028's soundstage.

I've just received some ADA4627-1B, apparently they're pure gold...too lazy to solder them today, though :disagree:

I know what I wrote about the LT1028 before, but now I say it's kickass! Very fun to listen to - unless it's in my head again.

I still don't see any valid explanation as to why LT1028CS8 would work, but not the higher grade LT1028ACN8..that sounds even better :agree:

leeperry, if I can use the volume icon in the taskbar with the NG27, do you think I should use it or leave it on the highest(default)?

many ppl reported that the volume pot stereo tracking sucked on the NG27, so I'd use a mono signal, find an acceptable position and use software volume attenuation from there....too bad James still doesn't allow volume control over KS/WASAPI :(

BTW, a friend of mine has gotten me a NG27-MK2 shipped earlier this week: http://cgi.ebay.com/HA-NG27-MKII-USB-Sound-Card-Headphone-Amp-DAC-PCM2702-/140415138558

He wants good sounding opamps for his MDR-CD850 phone. I'm afraid LT1363 would have too much DC offset but I'll try the usual suspects(OPA132U/AD797BR).

later on he'll prolly use this to isolate from the nasty computer ground: http://www.circuitsathome.com/mcu/usb/usb-isolator

and build a proper PSU: http://tangentsoft.net/elec/tread/

I had a look here for NG27 vs NG27 MKII.

yup, but it's got a stereo RCA output this time, so you can bypass that crappy pot, use this kind of adapter for your phone and your player's digital volume control(it sounds really great in Reclock!):

OK, I got the NG27 MK2...but the ebay seller forgot to ship the PSU, duh...another 2 weeks to wait I guess.

BTW, I got a new toy..it sounds wunderbar: http://www.head-fi.org/forum/thread...-24-96-usb-transport-w-o-drivers#post_6704537

I use it w/ a USB Isolator, that provides a galvanic isolation and regenerates the USB clock: http://www.circuitsathome.com/mcu/usb/usb-isolator

I fully agree w/ what these ppl say about it:
ADuM4160 also has a nice side effect: it regenerates the USB clock, which is used by many USB DACs; as a result, DAC works better off this clean clock.

it is funny, all the sounds are there, some details too, it just doesn't sound so realistic without the USB-isolator. Music Dies away. Some of the magic dies out, the room perspective, depth is not so clear.. It's not coming out of the speakers properly without the isolator... Funny!

this kind of thing used to costs $300/$400, mostly used for medical/research purposes...it's totally amazing to get it for $50

ok I've got the wallwart for the NG27 MK2!

too bad there's a pretty loud whining sound as soon as there's an incoming USB signal...and the ebay seller has a 20% restocking fee, my friend's pretty ****** :bang:

eek. I've never heard any whine from my NG27. I wonder what's happened there...

prolly DOA, the ebay seller doesn't even seem surprised...my friend wants a cheap killer source, that just does not exist.
