Would someone please give me an explanation of what lossless is. I am think that it is the compression of a video file to fit a disc that is smaller than the original.. Am I right, or just all wet.

Loss=loose something, so it is to handle a file without quality loss (same quality as original file). If you want to save filesize to fit it on a smaller disc, you have to choose another method, like convert to .mp4 and crank down the bitrate and/ or resolution.
