I'm a little slow on the uptake, but after someone informed me that CloneDVD didn't copy Blu-Ray, I thought I was all set. I used the copy "Rip DVD" to hard disk option on AnyDVD HD, and it gets to about 65% completion and then fails. The stated error is "Failed to read DVD." It then goes on to mention 4 possible reasons. The only one that seems likely is the Region setting warning. I can go ahead and set the region, but I have sucessfully ripped Casino Royal without it set, so I'm wondering if that is really the culprit. The AnyDVD status screen shows: Summary for drive H: (AnyDVD 6.1.5.6) SONY BDRW BWU-100A 1.0E FEB23 ,2007BRF2 Drive (Hardware) Region: 0 (not set!) Media is a Blu-Ray disc. Total size: 15329632 sectors (29940 MBytes) Video Blu-Ray label: 67994660_THE_LAST_SAMURAI Media is AACS protected! Removed AACS copy protection! Blu-Ray disc is region free!
If you get to 65% ripped and it crashes its definitely a damaged or dirty disc. Check for scratches, smudge marks etc. If none, return the disc to where you bought it for a new one and try again.
