Does anyone know anything abou the new Linksys Kiss 1600 DVD/Media Streamer and whether or not it tis capable of streaming ripped HD DVD or BD files? It states that it streams H.264/AVC, but what will the bitrate be on that stream as well? I can't see that it is actually available for sale anywhere yet, but the product manual is up at the Linksys European site. It is not a US product but does state that it is NTSC compatible, so I assume it will work in the US.
My preference is to use networked hard drive boxes because I can share them on my network and access them with whatever application I want to use for playback. You can also easily build a server for this purpose as well. Also, I suggest that you go with Gigabit ethernet for streaming HD content. Current networked hard drive units that I'm aware of are at these locations: http://www.dlink.com/products/?sec=0&pid=509 http://www.netgear.com/Products/Storage/NetworkStorage/SC101T.aspx http://www.netgear.com/Products/Storage/NetworkStorage/SC101.aspx
