I also found Webslinger's reply very helpful from the thread Best way to rip with AnyDVD.
So, if I understand correctly, AnyDVD works in background (removing CSS-protection, region restriction) when using CloneDVD2 for importing the disc. Please correct me if I have understood it wrong. I just want a confirmation.

Yes, AnyDVD works in the background and is transparent to all applications running on your machine, including CloneDVD2. CloneDVD2 sees the disc as unprotected. Unfortunately, on SOME discs(Sony, notoriously), there is another layer of protection called structural protection in which they introduce errors on the disc intentionally. This protection can't be removed "on the fly" by AnyDVD. That's why CloneDVD2 has routines to fix the DVD structure. AnyDVD Ripper now has those routines, as well. So, using CloneDVD2 with AnyDVD in the background, you will ALWAYS get the cleanest rip possible.
