I tested alot of other "joiners" but they all re-encoded - which took too long and usually altered the original encoded spec and MovieMaker was just too slow.

The best and fastest tool I found is at: http://www.amigoshare.com/mjsintro.html
The eval edition works for any # of WMVs of any length (it just adds a watermark to the video).

I just works at the file level. It definitely does join files w/ the same res/bitrate/fps/etc. and it definitely does not join files that differ in any of these areas.

It is as basic as it gets - no transitions, no options to recode, etc. - but that is exactly what I needed.

At this point, it was definitely worth the $20 (maybe alittle overpriced for what it does but its the only app that worked the way I wanted it to).

I use MediaJoin. It will do MP3, WMA, WAV, OGG, AVI, MPEG-1, MPEG-2 and WMV............and it's free.

Yes - MediaJoin (free) is as good as any joiner utility that others are charging for. It, like the others, re-encodes as it joins. For me it was worth the $20 AmigoShare product to skip that process.
