You can try to set AI scanner to "always enabled" for this disc, but I believe your disc and / or drive is dirty and / or defective.

Judging by the fact it died at around 50%, it's probably a layer change issue. If this drive you're reading it on is an LG model, try using one from a different manufacturer. I primarily use an LG, but LG's aren't perfect readers. Many times, I've come across discs it won't read at the layer change, but my Verbatim made by Pioneer will.

Just speaking from general experience, I often run into discs that are brand new and pristine and they fail to read/rip. A replacement almost always solves that for me.

I have an LG drive (WH16NS40) flashed for LibreDrive that will sometimes fail to process a disc. I plug in an old Samsung USB SE-506 drive to verify the disc and 99% of the time the issue is with the LG drive and not the disc itself.

Thanks, bought a new drive and it worked great. Guess 14 years was its lifespan

14 years is generally way beyond the norm for a drive to survive.
