Are there any pros and cons when deciding whether to buy internal or external burners?

Generally speaking the internal one appear to be faster and behave more consistently - or at least that is the way they "act" for me.

I have an internal Plextor (PX-755a) that use to be an external (PX-755uf), but was acting up. So I took it out of the enclosure and installed it in my pc and no problems since.

Go internal if at all possible. Externals, USB and Firewire, are more prone to problems.

Thanks. And I guess in internal take up less space too.
