I get an error when trying to download movies from Amazon

SamauriHL suggested changing your DNS server to a public one. A good (and easy to remember) public DNS is Google's: 8.8.8.8 (and/or 8.8.4.4 see: https://developers.google.com/speed/public-dns). If you need instructions on how to change your DNS, look here: https://www.windowscentral.com/how-change-your-pcs-dns-settings-windows-10

I changed my DNS to the Google and then to OpenDNS. I can now ping it from the command prompt (both with Google and Open DNS) but I still get the same error in AnyStream (with both). Any ideas on what I should try next?

Note: I don't know if this is important but I got a different resolved name than you did.
You = 54.182.211.115 (I was able to ping this address too)
Me = 54.240.131.109

Are you running version 1.2.4.3?

If not upgrade. Also log out of AP and back in.

I am using 1.2.4.3
I logged out of Amazon and then back in.
I restarted my computer.

I wonder if the Original poster (OP) could upload a AnyStream log so that someone like @Pete or @Prospere can help them find out what is going wrong with their setup.

:)

I'd be happy to do so. How is that done? I know there is a log created once a download starts. I am not even getting that far. Is there a log created before a video even starts to download?

Today I got the following error. It appeared when I tried to watch the video (not download it) inside of AnyStream. I'm not sure if this is important. I'm just trying everything I can think of as I try to figure out what is going on.

The server is "load-balanced". There are actually several servers for the DNS name s3-iad-2.cf.dash.row.aiv-cdn.net and different people at different times will get routed to different servers so that no single server gets overloaded. This happens with all large-scale sites.

When I pinged that address just now, I got yet another IP: 54.182.211.107

I just noticed that AS has a "File/Show log messages" menu item that displays a log window at the bottom of the AS window. That log appears to show quite a bit of detail of the internet communication and might help diagnose what's happening.

There is also a "File/Create log file..." menu item that lets you direct the logmessages to a file - even the messages from before a download has started. It actually creates a .astlog file that is a zip archive which contains not only the log.txt but several other files .

Here's a very small snippet from my log when I select a video to download (but haven't actually begun the download):

What anti-virus/anti-malware/firewall/ad-blocker do you have installed? Try disabling them. It might be that the server is being blacklisted/blocked by something like that (that is the reason the pi-hole DNS proxy software has a sticky on this forum).

If I am using something it is native to Windows 10. I don't have anything installed on my computer other than Vipre Endpoint Security that only scans drives and files for viruses and malware. I can't find anyway to disable it. I have asked my IT friend to look into it. Are there any windows things I should look into?

I am able to ping all the domains in the log listed above. If I can ping the domain is it really being blocked?

Pinging might not be sufficient ...
The first line of the first log snippet of mwb1100 above contains an URL beginning with https and ending with .mpd ... can you copy that URL and paste it in your usual browser and check if a file gets downloaded?

That warning you posted in your screenshot is the usual response if you hit the "play" button ... as mentioned before, use the green download button on top.

It appeared when I tried to watch the video (not download it) inside of AnyStream.
You cannot watch anything inside AS. It is only to download the videos.
As the others already said, it is a network error, but if you can ping it now after you changed the DNS servers...
Did you tried cloudflare? It's 1.1.1.1 and 1.0.0.1. I always use that and have no problems. Only when I used my VPN but that is obvious.

Maybe it might work to clean your dns cache:
Open cmd, then
Code:
ipconfig /flushdns
Edit: You might have to restart your computer afterwards.

About the F5 thing: since you did a computer restart and also opened AS AFTER you bought the movie, it should work since AS was forced to reload the site.

Maybe this will help you to temporarely disable the Vipre Security thing:

I would recommend you not use ping as a connectivity test in this case all it's going to do is fool you. If you are trying to check to see if you can resolve DNS use "NSLOOKUP".

Also keep in mind the CDN server/name you need to communicate with probably changes with every request.

EDIT - Amazon in AS does use some sort of built-in browser. If you have not cleared it's cache yet try that as well.

Just rename the cache folder to whatever with AS closed and then run AS.
C:\Users\USER_NAME\AppData\Local\RedFox\AnyStream\cache

Unless we get a proper log file there is nothing we can do to help this member. Look at the screen you will see file in the upper left-hand corner, press it then you will see create log file create a, then upload it to the forum that’s it

Please confirm if you have Proxy Enabled or not in your settings? (It should NOT be if you are a normal home user without a proxy server)

Got to File > Choose Provider Tab > If any Tick is on the "Use proxy" next to amazon, then pleas remove that tick.
Click OK
Then close and restart.

I finally got to see your error message and I saw this in your Log you posted.

00:00:00.171 - [Debug] [Prime] using proxy: Socks5, host: , port 0

I got the error by enabling Use proxy, bud didn't actually input any proxy IP address or port.

Hope this helps.
