Don't know if this belongs in third-party products or here.

All the HEVC files from HBO max immediately crash PowerDVD when I try to play them on a Win10 machine. PowerDVD is the most current, patched version. They play ok with other media players like Plex, VLC or the native Windows Movies & TV app. No issues of any kind with the same video in AVC format, including PowerDVD. I tried 4 different videos.

Anyone else have the same problem?

If they play with just about any other player, the files are fine (barring meta data issues) and the problem is with PowerDVD.

I myself am running PowerDVD 21 Ultra with the latest patch Cyberlink released on Windows 11 and have no issues playing back the HEVC encoded files.

Incidentally, Microsoft's own Films & TV (or Movies & TV) App plays all stuff downloaded with AS that I tried (including DV if your hardware supports it), and it supports CEA-708 closed captioning

I think this should be in third-party products as the Op stated in his first post, it's not an AS issue.
