I use an old computer with Windows XP for my RedFox account but for some reason now I cannot get access to the website. My computer says connection problems which there isn't any. I checked. Is there some other reason I can't get to the site to get the downloads?

No I can get onto the site with my laptop just not the older computer

I know that my computer before said that it didn't like the certificate and claimed it might be unsafe.

Using Windows XP by any chance?

XP yea is that the problem you think?

It is. That's a known issue that it doesn't known what to do with recent certificates because there's no entry for them in its 'trusted certificates Issuers' component. Thus it flags them as insecure. It's the same thing with websites using 'mixed content' (some content via HTTPS, some via HTTP). That's not a website issue that's a Windows XP issue. You have to realise that's a 20+ year old operating system. A lot had changed since then. Microsoft 'abandoned' 3 other OS'es. Those being Vista, 7 and 8(.1). You do the math... ;-)

Thanks for the info Ch3vr0n I will have to figure out how to work around this problem or somehow transfer my account to another computer when I can't find the keys on this old system lol

A way around it? There is no way around it. Unless you have access to the windows source code and know it's programming. Windows simply doesn't know what to do with the SSL certificates that have been issued by the dozens of authorities that appeared and disappeared since that OS was released. Using XP nowadays is a massive security risk, you might as well contact the hackers and straight up give them your credit card details and personal info so they can use it for cc fraud and identity theft.

It's the same reason why more and more software developers are dropping the OS. It's way out of date. The only fix: Use either Win 8.1 or 10. Even 7 is no longer getting priority support from MS

Most of what you say is pure BS or as usual, BiaS. I have a computer running XP and have absolutely NO problem accessing the Redfox site and downloading the software. Saying that someone cannot access the website because of the OS is absurd, there is another issue. Not rebooting the computer for some time can cause some certificate issues. About the only factual statement you made was that Microsoft stopped updating it. For most people, XP is still a valid OS and works just fine. As far as security goes, like with most things, a little common sense and having a good AV and malware program is essential, no matter what OS you have.

BS? i doubt it. It's a known issue. Maybe you should do the research before calling me a liar.

Need more???

I didn't say he couldn't access the website because of an OS. NOT ONCE. What i said is that his XP may not know what to do with the SSL certificate used by the site. And on top of that i've seen it happen first hand on a system at a friends.

Ch3vr0n is right.

RedFox is using SSL certificates from https://letsencrypt.org.
Windows XP doesn't have the Let's Enrypts CA cert (certification authority) installed and - since it is not maintained anymore by Microsoft - XP can't update it's CA cert list.

If that is the case, then ANYONE using XP shouldn't be able to get on. So why can we and not him, unless it has as much to do with the browser than the OS.

So maybe instead of saying you need to get a new computer, or at least OS, reload all your programs (if they will even work with W10), and that hackers are lining up at your door to get into your computer because of the OS you're using, just saying that XP is rather old and not being supported by the browser you are using. So you might try using Firefox to access sites you are having trouble with until you can change your OS/computer.

There are several reasons that it works for you in Windows XP, like:

It has been a while that I used XP so I cannot really remember all workarounds. However, it is highly recommended to upgrade your OS ;-)

I thought I would give my XP os a try . Obviously it works because I'm posting.
It is XP Pro SP3 . I don't use this OS much it is the secondary OS on my older backup computer.
I'm using Opera browser which is Chrome based . I also use the beta version.

I didn't test with IE . I guess I could .

I don't know how to do that .

This is being posted using IE8 from same XP OS .
I don't like to use IE so I will be logging out right after the post.
It never hurts to learn.:sneaky:

Do i smell an apology comin? Cause i damn well knew i was right :)
