OK.. after several years of good luck with these I just hit a bad batch. I have 2 spools that when instructed to Nero to burn at 8X - Nero automaticly slows down to 4X after the lead-in, and burns the tracks at 4X. (HOW does Nero know to do this??) I've done a few A-B comparisons with another spool - I'm SURE it's the disks as the the thing don't happen when I use the older Fuji spool. <sigh> WTF??? -W
I'm surprised it didn't happen sooner, frankly. Fuji, by the way, at one time had its media made by Taiyo Yuden. Then Taiyo Yuden started to dump the stuff it saw unfit to sell itself onto Fuji (this was still better than average). And now Fuji typically doesn't sell anything worth using anymore. You were probably use to using Fuji when it was made by Taiyo Yuden. http://www.redflagdeals.com/forums/showpost.php?p=4454383&postcount=21
Maxell's Broadcast Quality 8x DVD-Rs http://www.maxell-usa.com/index.aspx?id=3;20;391;396&a=info&pid=153 Maxell's Plus series is also very good. Stay away from Maxell's regular line (found in most general stores).
Well, I don't live in the U.S., but there appears to be a store locater here: http://www.maxell-usa.com/locator.aspx?id=-2;0;0;0&a=locator That said (this appears to be a Canadian site that will ship to the U.S.), this may be of interest: http://www.us.ncix.com/products/index.php?sku=16377&vpn=635070&manufacture=MAXELL http://www.us.ncix.com/products/index.php?sku=21283&vpn=635070/12&manufacture=MAXELL That probably isn't an ideal solution if you're in the U.S. though. I'm sure someone sells it somewhere. Maxell Broadcast Quality media is expensive stuff.
I cant find the Maxell BQ but the Maxell you say is no good is every where. So i took all mine back in got the (( Verbatim )) made is Taiyo Yuden and just Office Max has them where i live.
