1) If I rip with Clonecd, will the original layer break location be preserved somewhere?
Yes, it is in the image.dvd file (you can open it with any text editor)
2) Can Clonecd's rip allow me to use a third party program like Imgburn and still preserve the original layer break when I burn to a +R DL disc (if I were to use imgburn)?
If ImgBurn processes .dvd files, it should work (I don't know).
