I just upgraded to the most recent version today and rebooted.

Now trying to make backup copy of "The Holiday" and Casino Royale".

Takes longer than usual on "Scanning Source files" on 1click dvd copy 5. When hitting start, "Preparing to copy files" appears then get a new small window with error reading "Cant open a file to read".

Same thing that happens with Saw 3 as well.

Any advice? Thanks in advance.

Why does this software have to be so complicated? I just gave the details of the movie and the error message. I am also assuming that if I am having this problem with these movies, then certainly others are.

Could it be a bug when I upgrade?

It's not complicated. And I haven't heard of this problem yet. So answer those questions.

1) Ensure you're using the lastest version of Anydvd:
visit http://www.slysoft.com/download.html

Just upgraded to the most recent

2) Remove packet writing software from your system (including Directcd, Incd, etc.)

I don't even know what packet writing software is so not sure if I have that. This error has only occured for the 3 movies thus far I have mentioned.

3) State a)the specific version of Anydvd you're using, b)the specific version(s) of the burning application(s) you are using (and stating "latest versions" isn't sufficient information; use full version numbers), and c)the specific version(s) of whatever other burning application(s) you have installed on your system.

The latest version of AnyDVD.... installed last night
1 Click DVD Copy 5 to copy

4) Specify the a)full title, b)region code, c) country, and d) release date of the disc that you're experiencing issues with.

3 Movies, Casino Royale, The Holiday, and Saw 3, US purchased at a Wal*Mart in Oregon. The Holiday and Casino Royale released this week, Saw 3 a few weeks back.

5) Specify a)the brand and b)model number of your optical reader and writer with c)firmware versions for these optical drives. d) Let us know what operating system (version number and service pack, if applicable) you're using as well. e) Check to see if there's an updated firmware version for your burner and your reader.

Sony - DRX 820U external writer. 16X. Using Windows XP home.

6) What blank media are you using? Specify a) brand name b)type (-R, +R, -RW, +RW, RAM, DL, etc.) c)media code, d) capacity/size, e) batch codes/serial codes (often found printed on the inner plastic hub of the blank disc), and f)country (factory information would be great as well, if possible) where the media was made (look on the physical packaging; do not rely on programs to accurately give you this information).

No problems burning.

If you don't know how to obtain media codes, you may find the following programs useful:

http://dvd.identifier.cdfreaks.com and http://www.dvdinfopro.com/

7) At what speed are you burning your blank media?

No problems burning.

8 ) Click the red fox icon in your system tray. Select "status" on the left hand side of your screen. With the problematic disc inserted in your computer, click the appropriate drive tab letter (the drive containing the disc) in Anydvd. In the window below the drive letter, copy and paste the information Anydvd gives you in your post asking for help.

I think it might be the problem with decrpyting ARccOS, as Webslinger had mentioned there might be a problem with. There is a firmware upgrade available for your drive though.

http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_firmware.php?download_id=2311

How do I install the firmware? Never done it and dont want to mess things up.

Thanks for your help... However, the file does not recognize this drive. It is external connected USB. Only gives the option of my internal drive (NEC) Any suggestions?
Just make sure it is plugged in before you start the program. I have no idea why it wouldn't recognize it.

Ok, got the program to recognize the drive, and try to do the firmware flash, click update and get:

"SONY DVD RW DRU-820A
The drive is not allowed to be updated.
The drive is not allowed to be updated."

What a PITA! Aaargh!

Yes, if you're using the latest version of Anydvd, then the problem is 1-Click, because I know the latest version of Anydvd and 1-Click will work on those titles.

Yes, it's the new Sony Across junk protections . . .
read http://forum.slysoft.com/showthread.php?t=885
And yes, 1-Click was updated to address that protection.

I'm glad everything is working for you now.

hinkleid ........ If you continue to have issues with 1Click, they have an excellent Help Forum. TPlat is very knowledgeable with 1Click, perhaps he will see this thread.

When you have a move that has around 90 some title sets, many of them bogus title sets it will take a little longer to scan the disc as compared to other movies that dont have nearly as many title sets, also with some of these newer movies comming out or alreadyout it is best advised to keep up with both AnyDvd and 1Click updates. I did a movie only back up of The Holiday last night with both AnyDvd and 1Click with no problems, the extras werent worth keeping in my opinion as they were about the making of the movie and some commentarys. Casino Royal I also did just a movie only as the extras on that were pretty much only previews for other movies.
