correct me if i'm wrong,but i understand dvd shrink can convert a dvd9 to dvd5 disc,yes?

if this is correct then i need help.
i need to convert all my 70+ dvd's to single vob files, and i dont want the resulting files larger than 4000MB.
vob files will give me the dvd quality i want (divx,mpeg4 etc will not do in this instance).
i did look at clonedvdmobile vob passthrough, but this setting wont, unfortunately, allow me to alter quality or bit rate settings to meet my target size of 4000MB.

so i'm starting with casino royale, and i need to convert movie only (2hours18mins) to a single vob file which dvd shrink can do.
in dvd shrink edit>preferences,i have selected a custom size of 4000MB.
casino royale is 6754MB in size.
under re-author,compression is set to automatic.casino royale is now at 6701MB.
the indicator bar at the top is green up to 4000MB,the rest being red up to 6754MB.
when i go to back up,it says "target size exceeded - the current dvd size is too big....etc".
if i continue and ignore error message,it says "space required 6754MB" for the files.

so how do i compress a dvd9 to dvd5 with dvd shrink to fit a target size of 4000MB?

If I remember correctly, Casino Royale was a problem movie. Use AnyDVD to "rip" the movie to your HDD. Then use DVDShrink on that file.
Someone please correct me if this information is not correct.

Back when it was originally release this was the case, yes. I have no idea if it is now.

I'll see what happens with the disc later. I have it somewhere.

(1) Set the size to Custom (4000 MB).
(2) Click Re-author
(3) Drag over Title 1
(4) Click Analysis and you'll be told you don't need to do it. Do it anyway and wait for it to complete.
(5) Select which audio streams and sub-titles you wish to keep
(6) Click Backup

I have no idea if the backup works w/o issues ripped straight from the disc with DVD Shrink.

thanks for the help.
i have tried again and the green bar extended across the top of the screen and it also came to my total of 4000MB.
i am now able to do what i set out to do.

in case anyone was wondering,i have bought an EMTEC movie cube (500GB) and am gonna put all my discs onto it to it.it connects to tv directly so i dont have to faff about with dvd's.and i'll have them all in one tiny space in great quality.
