"Unable to load all Game Jackal files" error message at start up (v3 or below)

By default Vista blocks admin applications from running at startup. Here is a method to overcome this limitation (special thanks to sparky56 for posting this).

Under the Game Jackal settings, change the start up option to "do not start at all"... then perform the following steps to start Game Jackal as a task at start up.

1. Launch the Task Scheduler (i.e. Start Menu / All Programs / Accessories / System Tools).

2. From the Actions panel on the right, select "Create Task". In the name edit box type "Game Jackal" (you can use another name here if you like).

3. Go to the Security Options on the General tab, select a user account with administrative privileges, then select the radio button "Run only when user is logged on". Finally check the box "Run with highest privileges".

4.Go to the Triggers tab and click "New". In "Begin the task", select "At log on". In the Settings options, select "All users". In the Advanced Settings options, check the box "Enabled". FYI if you wish to hide the Game Jackal splash screen, add "/silent" to the aruguments field.
d. Click OK to close the dialog.

5. Go to the Actions tab and click "New". For Action, select "Start a program". In the Settings options, browse for the Program/Script you want to execute on, this will be "GameJackal.exe" located in the Game Jackal directory (typically C:\Program Files\SlySoft\Game Jackal).
c. Click OK to close the dialog.

6. Go to the Settings tab, check the box "Run task as soon as possible after a scheduled start is missed. Finally, uncheck the box "Stop the task if it runs longer than...".

Now Game Jackal will be started via the Vista task scheduler at startup.

Profiles that have gone missing (v3 and v4)

Restoring profiles that have gone missing after a restart (PLEASE READ VERY CAREFULLY BEFORE DOING ANYTHING).

Every time Game Jackal starts it creates a backup of the profiles database. This database is called "maplom.lib" and is located under C:\Program Files\SlySoft\Game Jackal\Profile Library. In the case of v4, this happens every reboot.

The backups are called maplom.lib_X where X is numbered 1 to 5 with maplom.lib_1 being the newest version.

1) The very first thing to do is shut down Game Jackal and copy all "maplom.lib_X" to a safe place before continuing as they will be overwritten as you test the restored profiles. For v4, you need to shutdown the Game Jackal server. Do this by select Start menu -> SlySoft -> Game Jackal v4 -> Stop service.
2) The next step is to overwrite "maplom.lib" with "maplom.lib_1" (make sure you use the "maplom.lib_1" that you stored in a safe place) and the start Game Jackal to see if your profiles have returned.
3) If your profiles have not been restored repeat the process, only this time use "maplom_2.lib" etc.
