Command & Conquer 3 Tiberium Wars

.577 is a no go for me, alas.

GJ: Release v2.9.18.577

Running on a Win XP Pro sp2 - 32bit
Pentium 4 3.06
Pioneer DVD-Rom-1.06, 1.22
Plextor PX-712A, 1.08

Do you have Anydvd installed or Clonecd tray running? Try exiting them and creating new profiles.

Yeah, I have AnyDVD HD 6.1.7.1 beta running.

I unchecked AnyDVD's autostart option and rebooted my computer.

The result: No effect ...

Thank you for the suggestion though.
:)

You created a new profile after rebooting?

Yes - of course. ;)

I thought that action was given and not needed to be repeated ...

... and no it didn't work.

:)

Funnily enough I am suffering from the same problem.

I have recently bought myself some new hardware which required a re-install of WinXP. After re-installing I installed GJ (the latest release on the site) I went about creating my profile's all over again. Re-installed CnC3 went to make a profile and it deteced GJ. I am not running any other emulation software so it can only be GJ. As I left home I re-installed the hidejack plugin so when I get home tomorrow morning I will try to recreate the CnC3 profile to see if that helps. If it does not then I will use the latest beta...

This is strange...

Can you try the following test.
While GJ is running, put the games DVD in the drive and start the game via start menu (i.e. not GJ).

Basically we need to see if the game is able to detect GJ even if it's not being used to start the game.

If the game starts ok, then try the following.
1) Close GJ.
2) Go to the GJ directory, and remove the files "MaplomH.dll" and "?????H.dll", ????? will be a number i.e. 8744H.dll. Just move the files, don't delete them as they will need to be replaced.
3) Start GJ and create the profile and then test to see if OK.

Let me know the results.

FYI, leaving the dll files out of the directory may fix some games, however it may break others.

When I get home I will try as you ask, if memory serves (and currently I would not trust it, working night shift) CnC3 as well as Overlord (had the same problem with Overlord) worked fine with GJ in idle. It only detected it when I tried creating the profile.

When I get home I will do the following

A: Keep the stable installed eg: will not go beta.
B: Remove the hidejack plugin
C: Do the steps before 1.
D: Do steps 1-3 as asked by Matthew
E: Post findings.

I will do so. I will try the stable build in the afternoon just for kicks :p

But dont wait for me I will only be getting home in 2 hours and 30 min (with no O/T). I live in South Africa and right now it is 2:23am...

Overlord works patched to 1.2.

Medieval Total War II works no patch installed.

CnC3 does not work! Patch installed is 1.06 and the error is "Conflict with Emulation Software". Now I don't have daemon tools or alcohol 120 nor any other emulation software except for GJ.

Will try the deleting of dll's now.

moving the dll's out did do anything CnC3 gave the same error message. any other idea's?

Did you try to launch the game with the dvd in the drive without using GJ (leave GJ running)? If so, what was the result?

my bad the game launches fine with the dvd in the drive and GJ in idle. that is without moving any dll files, it only conflicts when I try to create the profile.

I tried also these steps.

1 - C&C 3 with 1.08 update and the C&C3-DVD in the drive and GJ is running.
Result: The game starts ok.

2 - Closed GJ - i.e "Exit Game Jackal" from the tray menu and moved "MaplomH.dll" and "?????H.dll" to the desktop.
Relaunched Game Jackal.

3 - Attempted again to create a profile: "Conflict with Emulation Software detected" - dialog window yet again.

All very odd. What is the installation path for C&C3?

Next, try the following (with the dll's back in the dir).
Create a profile and ignore the emulation error. Once complete, remove the dvd and test the profile and see if the message still appears.

FYI... the latest version of GJ was tested against CC3 v1.08

my installation path is D:\Games\CnC3

I store all my games on a different drive to my windows install, old habit cant remember why I do it :p

Have started d/l the patch and will use your next instruction to get it working...

Installation path: D:\EA GAMES\Command & Conquer 3\
I always install to a different harddrive then "C", which I reserve exlusivly to the OS and a few "other" applications.

I created a new profile with all the default settings - i.e I disregarded the pre-populated list also. Got the emulation error message, which I ignored ...

Last step I did was to lock the new profile I just had created.

The result: Your suggestion for a workaround did the trick!
I could successfully launch the game with a little aid from GJ and You.

But I have to wonder why.

My recipe for successfull launch of C&C 3 is the following:

Install latest GJ, Time of writing GameJackal Pro 2.9.18.570.

When you want to profile the game select the "Command and Conquer Generals - Tiberium Wars" in the "Profile Map" drop down dialog-box.

I had no virtual drive programs running, and the game started successfully on both XP Pro 32-bit and Vista Business 32-bit.

Thanks for the info ;)

What I did to fix the game.

1.) installed version 2.9.18.581
2.) Created a profile
3.) game would not run and complained about emulation.
4.) downloaded and installed hidejack plugin.
5.) re-launched the profile and game ran.

The game is installed in the default location.

Thank you for taking the time to help.
